Automatic Fire Suppression for Boats, Marine Vessels and Personal Watercraft

A fire on the water is a fundamentally different emergency than a fire on land. There is nowhere to pull over. There is no fire department two minutes away. The moment a fire takes hold in an engine compartment on the water, your options narrow fast, and the consequences of getting it wrong are severe. The U.S. Coast Guard recorded 239 recreational boating accidents involving fire in a single year, resulting in five deaths, 138 injuries, and over $107 million in property damage. Electrical problems are the leading cause, accounting for roughly 29 percent of outboard fires, driven by arcing, corroded terminals, chafed wiring and faulty voltage regulators that become increasingly unreliable as a boat ages. Fuel leaks onto hot engine surfaces, overheated motors from blocked water intakes, and decades of salt air working on wiring and connections all contribute to a risk profile that most boat owners underestimate, particularly because engine compartment fires often develop in enclosed spaces where smoke and heat are invisible to anyone on deck until the situation is already serious.

BlazeCut automatic fire suppression systems use FK-5-1-12, a fluoroketone clean agent that extinguishes fire by pulling heat directly out of the combustion reaction. It evaporates completely on contact, leaving absolutely nothing behind on wiring, fuel lines, engine components or any other surface inside the compartment. No powder, no foam, no residue of any kind. For a marine engine that needs to be restarted and assessed after suppression, that matters enormously. Dry chemical agents destroy the engine bay in the process of saving it. FK-5-1-12 does not. The fire goes out and everything the flames did not reach stays exactly as it was, which is exactly what you need when you are still on the water and need to understand what happened next.

The BlazeCut T Series mounts inside the engine compartment using zip ties or one-hole straps, routes along the areas of highest ignition risk, and requires no connection to the vessel's electrical system at any point. Fully self-contained and self-pressurized from the factory, it is active the moment it is secured in place. The system works the same way when the boat is running at speed as it does when it is sitting in a slip overnight or in storage for the season, which is relevant given that a significant share of marina fires begin on boats that are unattended and spread to neighboring vessels before anyone is aware a fire has started. No annual servicing, no inspections, no maintenance schedule over a working life of up to ten years.

The T Series is available in multiple lengths to fit the range of engine compartment configurations found across inboard, sterndrive and outboard applications, from small fishing boats and ski boats to larger cabin cruisers and center consoles. Personal watercraft with enclosed engine compartments are also supported. Every system ships complete and ready to install.
