Where Boat Fires Start

Understanding the most common ignition points tells you exactly where automatic suppression belongs.

The engine compartment is the highest-risk space on most powerboats. Fuel, oil, and exhaust heat exist in close proximity inside a confined, often poorly ventilated space. A Note on the USCG and Fixed Systems

The US Coast Guard minimum requirements for recreational vessels specify portable fire extinguishers based on vessel length and engine configuration.
